Technology Advertising Leads the Pack in H1 2009 IAB adspend study
Not only is online the only advertising stream to keep growing (this half up by 4.6%), it is now also the largest ahead of TV (as predicted in my previous blog), but more interesting for me is that the Technology Industry sector is now the largest out of any at a whopping 19.1% of all online display ad spend in the UK.
Clearly sectors like Finance and Automotive have suffered terribly as a result of the resession, however, these figures go to show how resilient the Tech Sector is. Tech and Online suffered their own resession back in 2000 when the dot com bubble burst and there arn't many business like Net Communities left standing.
My eye is now on the growth of video advertising online and how things integration and social engagement will be reported on in forthcoming studies.
I believe that the IAB's £11.4m on online video is underplayed and I suspect that the total numbers for all online advertising is actually below the real figure, as I'm know several networks who do not submit their figures, which I guess can only be good news for all of us working online!
