Down at FOWA London 2009
Martin Beauchamp on the topic of Advertising and Developers and Online and Print
2 October 2009
That's right I packed up my laptop and took my work along with me to FOWA today. This comes one day after the IAB in the UK announced that Online advertising spend has surpassed TV for the first time ever. I guess sitting here at FOWA I realise why, it is truly amazing the number of people who really care, and who really want to interact with people behind the brand. The internet is really helping us all put faces in the windows of buildings and gives us the key to doors to talk to these people.
Print is being discussed on staged at the moment and the decline is being put down to enrichment of the user experience online and the levels of engagement that the user have to interact. Really, isn't this what we all want. To talk to real people, to have them understand us, to open up the shutters so we can get involved. Surely it's time for print to think like web developers! - engage, new revenue streams (charging premium), content delivery model, pricing and product innovation. When is the next generation looking at media.
